Ch Shujaat Hussain condemns hanging of JI’s leaders in Bangladesh

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain has condemned in strongest words hanging of former parliamentarian Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed in Bangladesh and said that their only crime is their love for Pakistan for which they have been awarded capital punishment.

In a statement issued here today, Ch Shujaat Hussain said that this trend of victimizing political opponents is very regrettable. He also expressed regrets that Pakistan Foreign Office kept silent even after these innocents were sentenced and did nothing to save their lives.

Paying tributes to both the leaders on their patriotism, said that when the Special War Tribunal awarded sentence to Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury he was a member of the Bangladesh Parliament, father of Shaheed Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, late Fazlullah Quader Chowdhury, who was former acting President of Pakistan and also Speaker of the National Assembly, had very close and friendly relations with his father Ch Zahoor Elahi Shaheed.

Ch Shujaat Hussain said that in Bangladesh a new has been made to punish those who love Pakistan under which old events were termed as crime and these leaders were sentenced and they were hanged also although this is an established principle that anyone can punish only for such crime about which the law was in existence when it was committed.
