FIA arrest 3 people for unauthorized activation of BISP cards

BISP CardsLahore : Federal Investigation Agency  arrested three accused from Okara upon complaints of unauthorized activation of BISP cards and withdrawal of cash grant amount from accounts of poor women. The action was taken on request of BISP. A joint team of FIA and BISP successfully raided multiple locations in Okara and arrested three criminals engaged in looting poor beneficiaries.

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is committed to establishing robust systems in order to curtail the middle-man culture and to help its women beneficiaries in accessing their cash transfer amounts in a transparent manner.

The Regional Directorate General BISP Punjab advised women beneficiaries to submit information and complaints of fraudulent activities to concerned Divisional Directors whose contact details can be accessed from www.bisp.gov.pk. Women beneficiaries can also approach BISP Tehsil offices and the Regional Office.

They may also register their complaints with BISP HQ Islamabad to convey their concerns and problems on the hotline number 0800-26477.

The above action was also taken on a complaint received from affected women of Okara and a gang was arrested for exploiting people’s naivety. The arrested accused were sent on physical remand to further interrogate the matter and efforts are being made by FIA to arrest others involved.
BISP is continuously making efforts to identify and take strict action against culprits exploiting poor beneficiaries and will be working in collaboration with law enforcement agencies for taking punitive action
against them. It has adopted transparent and easy-to-use systems to eliminate the chances of exploitation of BISP women. Recently, BISP has introduced BDC activation through biometric verification of the beneficiaries to ensure transparency in the payment delivery system.
