NCHR notice the building collapse incident in Sunder

Justice (Retd) Ali Nawaz ChohanLahore: Chairman National Commission for Human Rights Justice (Retd) Ali Nawaz Chohan has said the NCHR has taken sou moto notice of Kasur scandal while a notice has been sent to Chief Secretary Punjab over building collapse incident in Sunder industrial estate.

He was talking to media after chairing an introductory
meeting of the NCHR members with officials of Punjab government
held here at Human Rights & Minority Affairs Department on Tuesday.

Justice (Retd) Ali Nawaz Chohan said the NCHR had also
asked questions to Hajj officials through notice about the
number of martyrdom of Pakistani pilgrims in crane collapse
incident in Saudi Arabia and nepotism in appointing Khaddams.

He said the government and parliament was committed to
functional the NCHR as an independent body which had authority
to take sou moto notice on any violation of human rights.
“An action plan to protect human rights in the country
is being prepared and soon will be sent to media”, he added.

Highlighting the goals of the NCHR, he said that the
prior and basic aim of the commission is to implementation
of all the 27 Conventions of United Nations by the end of
this year, to enjoy fruits of GSP Plus awarded by the European
Union as per condition of the EU.

Justice (Retd) Ali Nawaz said that Ministries of Commerce
and Law were fully activated and helping the commission besides
this commission has full support of the parliament.
There is a huge failure of sociologists of the country
as they are not paying their national obligation by indicating
social evils that is why anti-social crimes are occurring.

Stressing for resolving Kashmir dispute, he said the NCHR
would write a letter to Pope in this regard.
