PITB helps secure lives at Raiwind Congregation: Dr. Umar Saif

Lahore: First time at the huge religious congregation (Tableeghi Ijtima) of Raiwind, the Punjab Police is utilizing Bio-metric devices to verify the identity of attendees. The devices provided by Punjab IT Board (PITB) are already successfully working across the province. It was revealed by the Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif during a meeting held at Arfa IT Tower on Friday.

He said that the Bio-metric verification process was already facilitating the law enforcing agencies in identifying criminals, proclaimed offenders and terrorists particularly at large public gatherings. “Besides providing sufficient number of Bio-metric machines, the PITB has also installed 24 CCTV cameras linked with two control rooms, one established at the event spot while other at the Home Department premises Lahore.

Well trained staff of PITB is watching each and every corner of the venue packed with millions of the participants. The Background Check instruments give real time information against criminal records.” He added.
