Government decision to impose additional taxes is a anti-people:Senator Sirajul Haq

Senator Sirajul HaqLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has termed the government decision to impose additional taxes worth Rs. 40 billion in order to secure IMF loan as tyrannical and anti-people, and said the JI would raise its voice against this in the parliament.

He was addressing a news conference at Al-Markaz Peshawar where a large number of people belonging to Charsada and associated with different political parties, announced their decision to join the JI.

Sirajul Haq deplored that the federal and the provincial governments had so far not completed the survey of the losses of life and property in the quake affected areas. Besides, he said that the government had not declared the quake affected areas as calamity hit areas.

He said that the JI had allocated a grant Rs. 200 million for the quake hit people and out of this amount, a sum of Rs. 120 had already been spent.

He said the JI workers and Al-Khidmat Foundation volunteers were working in the affected areas round the clock. He also expressed gratitude to the people who were donating funds and relief goods for the help of their calamity hit brethren.

Sirajul Haq said that he JI was a progressive party and it was the future of the country. He said the joining of hundreds of people was a living proof of this fact.

On the occasion, Wali Muhammad Khan, the Tehsil chief of the Qaumi Watan Party, announced his decision to resign from the QWP and join the JI along with his 150 colleagues.  He said they had been forced to quit the QWP because of the selfish policies of its leaders.
