SM MunirLahore: United Business Group (UBG) on Friday lauded the solidarity of King Salman with Pakistan terming it a great and timely gesture.

We welcome the reaffirmation of Saudi leadership that any threat to Pakistan’s security and stability was unacceptable during meetings with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, said Iftikhar Ali Malik Chairman UBG.

He said this while speaking to business community where Patron-in-Chief of UBG SM Muneer, Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, candidate for FPCCI’s president Abdul Rauf Alam, SM Naseer, Malik Sohail and others were present.

Malik said that Saudi Arabia has always stood by Pakistan and we will never disappoint the brotherly Muslim country.

The business community respect the deep commitment of the Saudi leadership to territorial integrity and solidarity of the country, he added.

SM Muneer said that the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are historically close and extremely friendly, occasionally described as constituting a special relationship.

This was not verbal commitment of the King but it is the decades old policy of the friendly country. Saudi Arabia played leading role to help overcome many challenges faced by Pakistan and she has always extended unconditional support to Pakistan at international forums.

Rauf Alam said that Saudi has provided much-needed economic and financial support to the country during tribulation and that the timely move of the COAS has yielded the desired results. He said that around five million Pakistanis are working in Saudi Arab and sending billions of dollars as remittances which helps stabilise economy.

He rejected the allegations of Businessman Panel of the FPCCI terming it a childish move aimed at gaining attention. Unfounded accusations will not help the rejected people to stage a comeback in the Apex chamber, he said.
