The 1st P. T. Yaqoob Memorial Hockey Tournament will be played in Gojra

Lahore: The 1^st P. T. Yaqoob Memorial Hockey Tournament will be played in Gojra from 30^th October to 6^th November 2015 after a lapse of 23 years, in which eight hockey teams – namely PIA, SSGC, WAPDA, STEEL MILLS, LAHORE CUSTOMS, THE GOJRA STARS, GOJRA SPORTS & TAHIR ZAMAN ACADEMY – will participate.

TODAY, a press briefing was held by the organisers of the tournament – Olympian Muhammad Khalid/Organising Secretary, Tournament Director Olympian Danish Kaleem, Olympian Muhammad Shahbaz Junior, Olympian Nadeem ND, International Babar Abdullah & International Khawar Javaid – at Government College Gojra.

The organisers expressed their profound thanks to PHF for granting permission, M/s. Haier Mobile, Chen One and Gibbs Biscuits for sponsoring the event, Chaudhary Khalid Javaid Warraich (MNA), Mr. Abdul Qadeer Awan (MPA), Principal Government College Gojra and District Coordination Officer Toba Tek Singh.

Meanwhile;The training camp of national junior probables is in progress at Hockey Stadium Johar Town, Lahore preparing for participation in the 8^thJunior Asia Cup to be held in Kuantan/Malaysia from 14^th to 22^nd November 2015 – Qualifier for the Junior World Cup/2016.

The trials to select the final lineup will be held at Hockey Stadium Johar Town, Lahore on 31^st October 2015 at 1400 hours and will be observed by National Selection Committee – comprising Mr. Abdul Rasheed Junior/Chairman and M/s. Farhat Hassan Khan, Waseem Feroze, Saeed Khan & Qasim Khan/Members – and formulate its recommendations for the approval of President PHF.
