Education department approves rate of annual lease of charity educational institutions

Minister Education rana mashhood ahmad khanLahore: Rate of annual lease of charity educational institutions should be received at the rate of one percent of rental market value of the concerned institution while five percent annual increase will also be included in the rate of lease received.

This proposal was approved in a meeting presided over by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan. Secretary Higher Education Irfan Ali, Chairman Higher Education Punjab Dr. Nizam Uddin, other officers besides representatives of FC College, Cathedral School, Crescent School and other schools were present on the occasion.

The meeting decided that amendment will be made in clause 10 of Punjab Revenue Board pertaining to lease of charity educational institutions. According to the amendment, new lease rate is being fixed for all charity educational institutions which fulfill the definition determined with regard to their nature.

The Minister said that aim of fixing new rate is not to create problems for above mentioned educational institutions but the government values educational services of these institutions. He said that Punjab government is making amendment in the concerned law for leasing out all charity educational institutions on equal but very nominal rates. He said that the new rate of annual lease of these institutions will consist of only one percent annual part of rental market value of concerned institution.

District Rate Assessment Committee will determine market rental value of these educational institutions while an increase of five percent rate will be made every year on one percent amount received.
Representatives of FC College, Cathedral School, Crescent School and others expressed satisfaction over resolution of long standing issue of fixation of lease rate.

Education Minister told the meeting that the amendment will be enforced after approval by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan presided over another meeting in which different matters regarding distribution of laptops among girl and boy students during 2015-16 were considered. One lakh laptops are being distributed among the students during current year in Punjab.

The meeting decided that the world renowned company from which laptops will be purchased would be invited to set up its assembling plant in Pakistan. The meeting also considered terms and conditions in this regard.

Rana Mashhood Ahmed said that government would provide modern and quality laptops to girl and boy students so that they could play their role in the progress and prosperity of the country by harmonizing with needs of modern age.
