The government hospitals to remain high alert during 9th and 10th Muharram

punjab-health-department-logoLahore: Punjab Health Department has directed all the government hospitals to remain high alert and make all necessary arrangement to cope with any medical emergency during Muharram-ul-Haram especially on 9th and 10th Muharram.

A spokesman of Health Department has said that Health Department has directed all the public sector hospitals, autonomous medical institutions and EDOs Health to take all steps and make necessary arrangements. Hospitals’ administration have been directed to ensure availability of senior administrative doctors and medical staff according to the Emergency Crisis Management Plan.

The spokesman further said that they have been directed to ensure presence of medical staff in the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospitals, besides availability of life saving drugs, beds and functional ambulances.

The hospitals have also been asked to stock sufficient quantity of blood bags of all blood groups in their blood banks. All the teaching hospitals, DHQ and THQ hospitals, Rural Health Centers and Basic Health Units will function round the clock and medical staff will remain available for any unforeseen situation during 9th and 10th Muharram-ul-Haram.

The hospitals’ administration and EDOs Health have been directed to coordinate with the district administration, respective DCOs/DPOs for sharing the plan of Muharram processions and majaalis and to prepare foolproof medical cover plan comprising duty roster of senior staff in this connection. Written instructions have already been circulated to all the concerned quarters under the directions to comply with the instructions in letter & spirit.
