Warmly welcoming the delegation to Punjab, PITB Chief Dr Umar Saif said that it was a good presage that the provinces of Pakistan were started to compete on performance rather than on petty non issues. He said that such healthy competitions ultimately resulted in improving the public service delivery.

Dr Saif said that equipped with better resources and work force, Punjab was developing steadily and becoming able to assist other parts of the country. He told that the PITB was already assisting KPK, Sind and other provinces in IT based projects particularly in the health, education and law and order sector.

He quoted that with the help of PITB, former DIG Special Brach Punjab Nasir Durrani initiated a number of IT based reforms in Police that he also introduced successfully in KPK as IG Police now. “It is a success story that PITB’s Citizen Feedback Monitoring Program (CFMP) successfully working in the Revenue, Health, Police, Rescue and other departments of Punjab, had been implemented in the public hospitals of Albania and now being taken to Romania by the World Bank.

The head of Department for International Development UK is one of those global figures who admired the PITB’s work.” Dr Saif said that till the date almost 236 flagship projects were under progress to bring improvement, transparency, accountability and good governance within the public offices of Punjab. On a question put by a journalist, Dr Saif told that PITB was also working effectively to curb terrorism in Punjab by rolling out 1000 Bio-metric machines through the Punjab Police, Rangers, Anti-Terrorism Force and Special Branch.

Admiring the KPK Government, Dr Umar Saif said that the KPK Assembly had made remarkable laws about accountability and transparency. The journalists speaking on the occasion loudly appreciated the PITB’s initiatives and wished they all be replicated in KPK. They were unanimous on the need of inter-provincial harmony and collaboration among all provinces of Pakistan in order to change the lives of the common people while setting all political differences and biases aside.
