Government is determined to defeat the menace of dengue in Multan:Nadeem Ashraf

Senior member BoR Nadeem AshrafLahore: Senior Member Board of Revenue Nadeem Ashraf, Secretary Food Punjab Pervaiz Akbar reached Multan to make the campaign against dengue effective and held different meetings and evolved strategy.

These meetings were held at DCO office, Circuit House, EDO Health, TMA Bosan Town and Sher Shah Town which was attended by DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal and officers of Health Department, TMAs, WASA, PHA, Environment, Agriculture and other departments.

Kh. Salman Rafique said that government is determined to defeat the menace of dengue in Multan and like Lahore, dengue will also be defeated in Multan. He said that the campaign against dengue cannot succeed without the participation of the people therefore in order to create awareness among the citizens regarding dengue, campaign should be launched in schools and houses, walks should be held and pamphlets should be distributed regarding precautionary measures.

Moreover, spray should be carried out on the plants in the parks and water pots kept for birds in the graveyards should be removed besides tyre shops and under-construction buildings be checked. He said that carpet spray should not be carried out at all places rather fogging should be conducted only where larva or dengue mosquito is present as unjustified spray kills human friendly insects and ecosystem is destroyed.

Kh. Salman Rafique said that only those private hospitals should be allowed dengue treatment where doctors have taken special training for the treatment of dengue fever as untrained doctors make the dengue cases complicated and refer to government hospitals which result in difficulties in the treatment.
