Dr. Farzana Nazir elected as Convener Punjab Assembly Women Caucus

Lahore: Dr. Farzana Nazir was elected as Convener, Tehsin Fawad as General Secretary and Saadia Sohail as Treasurer in the elections of Punjab Assembly Women Caucus.

Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz, acted as chief election commissioner while Ayesha Javed as presiding officer. Minister for Women Development Hamida Waheeduddin and Chairperson Women Commission Fauzia Waqar were also present on the occasion. Women parliamentarians actively participated in the elections.

Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz and Minister for Women Development Hamida Waheeduddin congratulated the newly-elected office-bearers and expressed the hope that Women Caucus will play a significant role in highlighting and resolving the problems of women. They said that working caucus of Women Caucus is also being formed for full empowerment of the Women Caucus.

Later, Women Members of Punjab Assembly adopted a joint resolution demanding of the government early approval of the license bill.
