Iran, US nuke deal brings new challenges to Pakistan

Dr Murtaza MughalLahore: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Sunday said nuclear deal between Iran and US will have many implications for middle east and south Asia for which our policymakers should remain prepared.

The agreement will end Indian dependence on Pakistan for a lang route to Afghanistan and central Asian markets.

On the other hands, India, having nineteen times more foreign exchange reserves than Pakistan has initiated serious efforts to develop Iranian port of Chahbandar as an alternate to Gwadar port, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.

Moreover, It has already completed 200 km road linking Iran’s Nimroz province with Afghanistan’s Farah province which is part of its plan to gain foothold in Iran and Afghanistan against Pakistan.

Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that India will try best to derail Pak-China economic corridor, upgradation of Gwadar port and Islamabad plans to import gas from Iran, so far the cheapest option.

Security of Pakistan’s side of 880 km pipeline would be a difficult task in presence of conspiracies by the enemies for which our civil and military establishment should make a proper plan.

Dr. Murtaza Mughal lauded the recent statement of COAS Gen. Raheel Sharif in which he said that economic corridor and Gwadar port would be built and operated at any cost and that army is ready to offer sacrifices for the great cause.

The timely and encouraging statement should that COAS is well-aware of the situation and ready to check the conspiracies of the enemy countries, he noted.

Pakistan has all the abilities to counter Indian designs against mega projects, he said, adding that Gen. Raheel is bringing a change is Pakistan which will have appositive impact on the lives of every citizen.
