Iran’s Firdausi University and PU to enhance collaboration

Iran’s Firdausi University and PU to enhance collaboration(23-07-15)Lahore: Iran Cultural Centre Lahore Director General Akbar Barkhurdari Thursday called on Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran and discussed issues of mutual interest including organizing of Hamdani Conference and increasing collaboration between PU and Firdausi University.

On this occasion Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Ismatullah Zahid and Department of Persian Professor Dr Muhammad Nasir were also present. Mr Barkhurdari formally invited Dr Mujahid Kamran to visit Iran and work to promote linkage between Firdausi University of Iran and Punjab University. Speaking on this occasion Dr Mujahid said that there were strong religious, cultural and economical relations between Iran and Pakistan as both countries also share 909-km long border. He said that Iranians were expert in the fields of science, mathematics and agricultural and the Poet of East, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a source of strengthening brotherly relations between the two countries.

Mr Barkhurdari while stressing upon the need to work together for promotion of linkage between both the varsities, said they have established Iqbal Chair in Firdausi University. He also made a request to launch a Persian language learning course in collaboration with PU which was accepted by Dr Mujahid Kamran. The meeting also decided to organize Hamdani Conference at PU on November 6, 2015 in collaboration with Department of Persian, Department of Philosophy and Firdausi Chair. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the Muslim countries should not indulge in small issues but work together to promote their economic and militarily strength.
