The administration to remain alert during Eid holiday : Shuja Khanzada

Minister Home Shuja KhanzadaLahore: Provincial Minister for Home & Chairman Cabinet Committee on Flood Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada has directed all commissioners, DCOs and concerned officers of Irrigation, Communication & Works, Health, Livestock and Local Government to remain on their place of duty during Eid holidays in view of the likely heavy rains from July 17 to 21.

He issued this direction during a video conference with all commissioners of the province regarding flood arrangements at Civil Secretariat, here today. Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Industries, Senior Member Board of Revenue, IG Police, Additional Chief Secretary, all provincial secretaries, DG PDMA, DG Rescue 1122 and senior officers of all concerned departments were present on the occasion.

The Provincial Minister directed senior officials of meteorological department, flood warning centers to issue timely warning to commissioners in case of high level of water so that they could ensure protection of life and property of the people in their respective areas. He said that all rivers are flowing normal in the province but in view of the expected heavy rains all arrangements should be ensured.

Col. Shuja Khanzada directed Secretary Irrigation to provide detailed awareness to all commissioners and DCOs about the normal, average and dangerous level of water in the rivers in their areas so that they could take timely decision according to the situation. He further said that commissioners and DCOs should also be kept informed all the time about the latest situation of discharge of water in rivers and nullahs.

The Home Minister directed commissioners and DCOs to submit a report within three days about all equipments being operational for coping with flood situation. He asked DG PDMA to complete the distribution of boats available in stock within three days and submit a report.

DG PDMA told the meeting that tender has been accepted and order has been given for more boats and supply of 20 boats per week will be started.
