12 Cops die including a unit commander Col Amir as train bogies fall into canal

Lahore: At least 12 persons were killed including a Unit Commander lieutenant Colonel Amir and eighty injured after a railway bridge collapsed and three compartments fell into Jamke Chattha canal near Wazirabad on Thursday afternoon.8 bodies have been recovered from the water where as rescue work is underway.

Lieutenant Col Amir Jadon,his wife and two children lost their lives in this tragic incident.

Major Adil ,Captain Kashif also embraced Shahadat in train accident tragedy.

A spokesman of Pakistan Railways told that more than 80 passengers have been rescued.

The train comprising six passenger compartments and 21 freight compartments was on its way from Pannu Aqil , Sukkur Railways Division to Kharian Cantt.

Emergency has been declared in hospitals in Gujranwala while hospitals in Lahore have also been alerted in this regard.The Spokesman said the inquiry team set up for the purpose will submit its report within twenty-four hours.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed concerns on the train accident in Gujranwala.He directed to mobilize all resources to rescue the injured and restoration of the track.

The Prime Minister also directed to provide medical aid to the injured and arrange their return to their destination points.
