Practical steps should be taken for the eradication of fire incidents:Khizar Hayat Gondal

Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab, Khizar Hayat Gondal has directed to evolve a comprehensive plan for checking the incidents of fire.

He expressed these views while presiding over an emergent meeting for overcoming increasing incidents of fire. The Chief Secretary directed the concerned authorities to ensure availability of fire safety equipments and emergency exit in the buildings. He said that protection of life and property is the foremost duty of government, therefore, practical steps should be taken for the eradication of fire incidents.

Chief Secretary directed DG Rescue-1122 Rizwan Naseer to launch an awareness campaign regarding causes of fire and precautionary measures. He also directed Secretary Home and DCO Lahore to further activate Civil Defence Department in order to effectively cope with any emergent situation.

Later, presiding over a meeting to review progress regarding crackdown against spurious medicines, the Chief Secretary said that those playing with human lives deserve no leniency. He directed to further accelerate crackdown continuing against those dealing in substandard medicines.

Khizar Hayat Gondal directed Secretary Health to take strict action against those manufacturing spurious drugs and get registered cases along with imposing fine to them. He ordered all concerned departments to fully cooperate with Health Department and Drug Inspectors in this regard.

Advisor Health Kh. Salman Rafique, MPA Kh. Imran Nazir, Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik and Secretary Information Momin Agha were present on the occasion.
