DG Sports Punjab announces to hold World Amateur Snooker Championship will be held in Lahore

Hamza Akbar called on Director General Sports Punjab Usman AnwarLahore: Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar has announced that World Amateur Snooker Championship will be held in Lahore in August 2015 under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab (SBP).

DG SBP made this announcement during his meeting with Asian snooker champion Hamza Akbar at National Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

Hamza Akbar called on Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar before his departure to China for the participation in World Professional Senior Snooker Championship being held there from June 15 to 21. The players from 24 countries will feature in the high-profile snooker championship.

DG SBP Usman Anwar saw off the young snooker star with best wishes and prayed for his success in China. He said players like Hamza were the real asset for our country. “Hamza won great appreciation in a short span of time and we are quite upbeat that he will earn several more laurels for the country in future,” he added.

DG SBP expressed his hope that Hamza will exhibit his best performance in the World Professional Senior Championship. “Our young  generation should follow heroes like Hamza Akbar if they want to earn good name in the field of sports,” he stressed.

Hamza, on this occasion expressed his gratitude to DG SBP Usman Anwar saying that DG SBP Usman Anwar has extended every facility and much wanted encouragement when it was mattered most. “Sports Board Punjab, through PYF, provided the youth of the country best platform to express their talent and the potential youth of the country availed the opportunity fully,” he stated.
