Ch Sarwar writes a letter to the members of European and British Parliaments

Ch Sarwar writes a letter to the members of European and British ParliamentsLahore: Former Governor and central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar wrote a letter to the members of European and British Parliaments to use their good offices to make the Egyptian Government realize that the judgement is cruel and falls shot of the principles of justice.  He wrote that the Government of Egypt should revoke the sentence by ordering a fair retrial.  Silence over this act of injustice is not an option for us and political leaders should not be purged for their views.

He requested them to raise this issue at the European and the British parliaments and open a channel of dialogue with the Egyptian Government. The death sentence to a popularly elected President in 2012 after successful agitations against the despotic and corrupt government of Hosni Mubarik will not help the incumbent government. In fact, it will cast a shadow on the best intentions and policies of the current leadership.

He stressed that Political leaders should not be purged for their views if not found agreeable. The judgement shows a tendency to seek revenge, not justice. Hence, he asked them to condemn the verdict and ask for a fair trial.  The death sentence will be considered as a judicial murder, a continued stain on the fair name of the present leadership of the country.

He said that he would like to stress that the implementation of death sentence will unleash an unending wave of violence and insecurity in Egypt and the Middle East.   The verdict speaks of the traditional approach adopted in Egypt to silence political dissent and malign pluralism.
