PITB to help Baluchistan and KPK for law portal

Lahore. Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif and Secretary Law Baluchistan Safdar Hussain signed agreement for law portal, 20-5-15Lahore: An agreement was signed between Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) with the Law & Parliamentary Affairs Department Baluchistan last day under which the PITB will provide technical assistance to the Baluchistan Govt. to put its laws online as made by the Punjab Government. Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif and Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs Department Baluchistan Safdar Hussain signed the agreement at Arfa IT Tower. According to the agreement, the client Government of Baluchistan desires to have the Law Code hosting and backup facility that would be provided by the PITB.

Furthermore, the PITB agreed to customize the existing Punjab Law Website for Baluchistan Law Code and pursuant to the negotiations held and understandings reached between the PITB and client, the client has desired that it shall acquire the managed hosting services from PITB.

Talking on the occasion, Dr. Umar Saif said that the PITB had rendered its Law Portal development services to the Law and Parliamentary departments of two provincial governments i.e. Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He told that a PITB team led by Joint Director (e-Government and Industry) Ms. Saima Shaikh had also trained the concerned authorities in deploying standard content management practices along with uploading the content and maintaining the Portal.

“The PITB has already developed Law Portal for Punjab government to facilitate lawyers, judges, journalists, public servants, students, researchers, and common citizens. Almost 500 laws belonging to Punjab Govt. departments were made available online. The agreement was made in accordance with the order passed by Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan on 3rd March this year.

The panel consisted of Supreme Court Judges Mr. justice Jawwad S. Khwaja and Mr. Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany,” he added. Dr. Umar Saif said that it was an honour for the PITB that its IT based projects were winning acceptance and accreditation from third parties.  He told that law portal was a key instrument to provide the public with an online access to the laws and notifications that ultimately leads towards the speedy and easy justice.
