Citizen Feedback Monitoring Program to shift power from State to Citizens:Dr. Umar Saif

Lahore. Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif addressing a meeting of private companies representatives-18-5- 2015)Lahore: In continuation to his efforts to give the citizens voice, awareness and empowerment, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Dr. Umar Saif has said that the PITB’s innovative project Citizen Feedback Monitoring Program (CFMP) is committed to strengthen democracy by enabling transfer of powers from state to the citizens. He stated it while chairing a meeting in his office on Monday.

The meeting was attended among others by the renowned system integrators of Punjab, DG IT Rizwan Rashid and Joint Director e-Governance Fasieh Mehta of PITB.

Dr. Saif said that CFMP was facilitating the citizens to give their feedback on any corruption or misconduct found in a public office where they contacted to avail common public services such as domicile certificate, emergency services, registry of properties and rescue service etc.

He revealed that during last six months almost 9.2 million robocalls of CM and sms messages were sent to the citizens of Punjab. But still some flaws have been identified in that system. To overcome those flaws, the Punjab Government has decided to improve the system by installing 2000 Kiosk machines at prominent places in government offices. The manned kiosks will enable illiterate citizens to send their feedback regarding the behavior of government servants whom they approached to get public services. In the first phase of the project, KIOSKS shall be installed at public service offices of Health, Education and Revenue department.

He interchanged the ideas with the participants to make that dream true. The system integrators gave their input in form of their company’s expertise and potential.

The vendors at the meeting showed active involvement and interest in the new concept and were determined to work alongside PITB for a more transparent and citizen centric governance system.
