CM inspects Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project

CM PUNJAB (RawalPindi)Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that seeing Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project in the final stages of completion is very encouraging and as the inauguration of the project is coming closer, its opponents are becoming silent. He said that those who were criticizing metro bus project will be hiding their faces after its inauguration and lakhs of citizens of Rawalpindi-Islamabad will soon be benefiting from this modern bus service.

He was talking to media after a surprise visit to Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project today. The Chief Minister inspected Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project without any protocol and reviewed its entire route from metro bus. He also got down from the bus at various stations and inspected construction work and issued necessary instructions to concerned authorities.

He said that it is his desire that metro bus facility should become available to the people of the twin cities at the earliest, therefore, speedy completion of the remaining work is being ensured. He said that facilitating the masses is the mission of the government.

He said that besides speedy completion of the project, no compromise will be made on its standard. Shahbaz Sharif said, therefore, he is personally monitoring this project. He said that Pakistanis are a living nation and will be provided respectable and comfortable transport facilities in every city. The Chief Minister said that Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project is aimed at benefitting labourers, workers, doctors, government servants, students, working women and low- income people and it is a masterpiece of quality and transparency.

He said that people of Rawalpindi-Islamabad have shown extreme patience during construction work of this project and boldly faced various problems for which he pays tributes to traders, students, employees and all citizens. He said that the glorious journey of metro project which was started from Lahore is continuing successfully and soon citizens of the twin cities will receive the splendid gift of metro bus. He said that foundation of a new culture is being laid through metro bus projects and it will prove to be a milestone in modernizing transport system.

Earlier, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif inspected the entire route of Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project on a metro bus without any protocol and reviewed construction work at different stations.

While inspecting construction activities on the 23-kilometer long metro bus route, the Chief Minister issued instructions to the construction authorities that the pending work should be completed as soon as possible and the timelines fixed for this purpose should be observed so that this glorious project could be inaugurated at the earliest.

Later, the Chief Minister presided over a briefing meeting regarding Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project at Punjab House Islamabad where he was informed about all packages of the project. The Chief Minister directed that the pending construction work of the project be completed immediately and early completion of landscaping and horticulture work should also be ensured.

Shahbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the pace of work, however, stressed the need for its further acceleration. He said that the debris on the route of the project should immediately be removed.
