Chinese cooperation to boost capability of navy: PESA

Admiral Fasih BokhariLahore: The Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) on Sunday welcomed the visit of Chinese President and his commitment to invest over 46 billion dollars which will lift economy, vastly improve capabilities Navy and strengthen Pakistan’s geo-strategic importance in the region.

Governments and people of Balochistan and KPK feel that the original plan of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has been changed therefore Federal government should issue comprehensive information about terms and conditions of this investment and other details about this Corridor for satisfaction of the two concerned provinces as we cannot afford to make this project controversial, it said.

These views were expressed in a meeting chaired by its Senior Vice President of PESA Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim. Admiral Fasih Bokhari, Air Marshal Masood Akhtar, Lt Gen Naeem Akbar, Maj Gen Sabih Bikhari (Lahore Chapter) Brig Mian Mahmud, Mr Salim Nawaz Gandapur, Brig Abdus Salam Akhtar, Mr Nawaz Ali, Brig Simon Sharaf and Brig Masud ul Hassan were also present. Brig Agha Gul of Balochistan Chapter was available on line.

All members were deeply grieved at the tragic helicopter accident at Naltar where 7 precious lives were lost that included some diplomats and their wives also. They offered their sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families.

PESA also appreciated introduction of electricity through solar power. It is, however, feared that the technology adopted is fast getting obsolete. Investments are now being made for using Concentrated Solar Power system that generates electric power by using solar heat to run steam turbines for solar-gas hybrid power plants that can produce electricity for 24 hours.

The former military leaders said that many startling disclosures have been made by people under detention involving some leading members of different political parties in criminal acts. In depth investigations and action without any political considerations can improve situation without regards to political considerations.

They appreciated the start of return to their home by IDPs of South Waziristan. PESA is in contact with the relevant authorities on the scope of assistance. It is, however, suggested that the government should establish a separate authority to co-ordinate and resettle the IDPs in earliest possible time in a satisfactory manner.
