Govt decides to revive Punjab’s CNG sector: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan AbbasiLahore: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that government has decided to revive Punjab’s CNG sector by providing it gas from the next LNG shipment due on May 11.

He said that resolution of the problems of CNG sector is priority of the government and concrete steps are being taken for it.The Minister said this during a high profile meeting with leader of the CNG sector Ghiyas Paracha. Secretary Petroleum, MD PSO, Central Chairman APCNGA Captain (retd) Shuja Anwar, Abdi Hayat, Salahuddin Sahi, Ashar Haleem, Brig. Iftikhar Ahmed were also present in the meeting. They agreed to the decision of the government to provide gas to CNG sector after arrival of the next shipment of LNG.

The Minister further said that urea and power sector is getting LNG and now the CNG sector will also get LNG so that its revival can become a reality.

In this connection gas utilities, Ogra and FBR would play their due role in the light of ECC decision, said Abbasi. At the occasion, Ghiyas Paracha said that government’s decision will have a positive impact on the lives of tens of millions of people who will get great relief. He thanked the petroleum minister and the government saying that now the Punjab CNG stations will be able to work for five days minimum.

Different matters regarding CNG and LNG were also finalized during the meeting.
