Begum Zakia speaks to reps of Australian aid, world food programe and DDMA

Minister PopulationLahore: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that government has always utilized available resources in a proper manner for the rehabilitation of the people and coping with natural calamities. Immediate steps will be taken for meeting any emergent situation in future as well, She added.

She was addressing the participants and representatives of Australian aid, world food programme PDMA, NDMA and DDMA at a local hotel, here today. She said this fact cannot be denied that human history is full of natural calamities and this process will continue. She said that Pakistan has faced a number of times natural calamities like earthquakes, floods, storms and terrorist activities. Zakia Shahnawaz said that international partners and NGOs have fully supported Pakistan in every hour of trial. The Minister said that the earthquake of 2005 and floods of 2010 and 2014 were a big challenge for the people and the government of Pakistan as a result of which we faced human and financial loss but due to timely and sincere efforts of the government, these problems were overcome. She also appreciated the efforts of National Disaster Management Authority and local and international partners for benefitting from each other’s experiences for coping with natural calamities.
