SBP hosts luncheon in the honour of teams of Deaf Asia Cricket T20 Cup

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Sports Rana Mashud Ahmed Khan has said that time was not far when Punjab will prove its mettle throughout the world in every field including sports; he was addressing the luncheon ceremony held in honour of participating teams of Deaf Asia Cricket T20 Cup at National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Rana Mashhood said: “It’s time to eradicate hatred and promote love among the people of region. Around 2000 athletes of 42 countries will visit Pakistan next month to take part in Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF) and definitely that will be a great boost for the future of international sports in Pakistan”.

The Minister informed that Zimbabwean cricket team will participate in the inaugural ceremony of Punjab International Sports Festival. “Our players are playing in various countries of the world which is a great success and an encouraging news for the fortunes of Pakistan sports,” he described.

Addressing the ceremony DG SBP Usman Anwar welcomed all the participating teams of Deaf Asia Cricket T20 Cup. He urged the young Pakistan players to focus on hard work which is the only key to success.

Nitender Singh, the coach of Indian Deaf cricket team expressed his cheerfulness on the holding of Deaf Asia Cricket T20 Cup Tournament. “Pakistan set an example by staging maiden Deaf Asia Cricket T20 Cup. We will ask other teams to visit Pakistan since there is no security issue in this country” he asserted. Dr Masood, the Tour Manager of Afghan Deaf team expressed his gratitude to Punjab Minister for Sports and DG SBP for extending top level facilities during their stay in Pakistan. Sri Lankan Team manager Mr Bobby said Pakistan was a land of loving people. “We face nothing wrong here”.

Dr Abdus Salam, the President of Pakistan Deaf Cricket Association also addressed on this occasion. Later, Punjab Minister for Sports and Education Rana Mashud Ahmed Khan and DG SBP Usman Anwar gave souvenirs to all the teams. President of Pakistan Deaf Cricket Association also presented shields to Punjab Minister for Sports and DG SBP.

It’s great satisfaction to host international teams in different sports events. Pakistan deaf players are enriched with plenty of cricket talent and we are quite upbeat about their victory in final, these views were expressed by Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar while talking to media at pool match of First Deaf Asia Cricket T20 Cup between Pakistan and India at LCCA ground on Friday.

DG SBP Usman Anwar said the international sports activities were the result of hectic efforts put up by Punjab govt and SBP. “Four-Nation Deaf Asia Cup and upcoming Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF) are the practical shape of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif’s task given some three years ago,” he added.

CM Punjab has always supported and encouraged the sportsmen of the country. “The prize of Rs 0.5 million to former Olympic cyclist M Ashiq is the fresh example in this regard,” he stated. DG SBP further told that the Zimbabwean cricket team was touring Pakistan to feature in Punjab International Sports Festival cricket event. “The frequent visits of international teams will be of great significance for young Pakistan sportsmen. They can enhance their experience and exposure by playing against international teams,” he concluded.
