PML-N govt is taking revolutionary steps for quality education: Rana Mashud

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that Punjab government, under the vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, is taking revolutionary steps for quality education throughout the province.

He was presiding over a high level meeting at the office of Commissioner Sargodha, today. Parliamentarians of the division, DCOs, VC Sargodha University, Chairman Sargodha Education Board, EDOs and DMOs of Education Department attended the meeting.

He said that the first time in the history, elimination of political interference has been ensured for quality education in schools. He said that 40 thousand educators are being recruited on merit and transparently every year. He said that instructions have been issued for participation of parliamentarians for further activating school councils for quality education at grass-root level.

The Education Minister stressing upon the parliamentarians, DCOs, EDOs, DOs and AEOs to ensure complete implementation on the orders of giving ownership of one or two schools in their respective areas said that Chief Minister Punjab has made the development funds conditional with the personal interest of parliamentarians in school education in all districts of Punjab for enhancing literacy rate and quality education.

He said that school education excellence centers are being set up at district level throughout the province. Rana Mashhood disclosed that Chief Minister Punjab will invite DCOs and EDOs education of the districts getting first three positions to Lahore and encourage them, while on the other hand, DCOs and EDOs education of three districts getting last position in their performance will be held accountable and explanation will be called.

The Education Minister directed Education Department to keep close contact with parliamentarians and take them into confidence for promotion of educational activities and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. He said that one crore ten lakh children are getting education in 53 thousand schools of the province.

He said that biggest school education system of the world is working in Punjab. He said that this education network is more than the population of some countries. He said that the focus of Chief Minister Punjab is on quality education for which billions of rupees are being provided for missing facilities and meeting other educational requirements.

Rana Mashhood said that students are also being motivated for improving their performance in educational field, therefore, he stressed that the quality education of public institutions should be improved after huge funds for which joint efforts are needed.

VC Sargodha University assured full cooperation on behalf of university for promotion of quality education. Later, talking to the media at Sargodha University, the Provincial Minister said that a committee headed by Dean Economics and Business Administration Maqbool Ahmed Sial has been constituted for resolving the problems of the university.

Replying to a question, Rana Mashhood said that government will achieve the target of 85 percent results in government schools by 2017. He further said that books in Urdu and English languages are being provided at primary level and there is no shortage of books in schools.
