JI want peace in Karachi to bring MQM Quaid back to the country: Siraj ul Haq

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the JI wanted to establish real peace in Karachi so that even MQM leader Altaf Hussain could return to the country without any fear. He was addressing the Karachi Bar association on Saturday.

Sirajul Haq said that he had come to Karachi not to conquer the mega city, instead he was there to dress the wounds of the Karachiites. He recalled that several lawyers were burnt alive in the city on “We don’t talk of enmity towards anyone. Instead, we talk of love for everybody,” he said. He said that the people of Karachi had trusted the MQM for almost ten times and returned it to power.

However, during all these years, the MQM had not given any thing to the people of Karachi during the last 24 years and political and economic terrorism was going on in the city, the economic hub of the country, even today. “We want to transform Amjal Pahari into Ajmal Siddiqui and Faisal Mota into Faisal”, he remarked.

Sirajul Haq said it was an honour for him to be addressing the Karachi Bar. He said that the lawyers  ommunity had rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the cause of democracy and the supremacy of the constitution and the law. The Bar associations had been upholding the banner of democracy and even during martial law when the politicians were under duress.

“Today, I stand among the people who have not made nuclear bomb but had made even much greater achievement, and this was the community which had established Pakistan under the able leadership of the Quaid e Azam”, he added.

Sirajul Haq said that the real issue in the country was not of nationalities or ethnicity. The basic issue was of the oppressor and the oppressed. It was unfortunate that while the tyrants stood united, the oppressed people were divided in groups. He said a handful of families had been controlling the country’s politics since independence. He said that the media had been free in the past but the capitalists had established their control over that as well.

The JI chief said that under the constitution, Urdu was to be made the official language but that had not been done till today.

Sirajul Haq called for setting up a commission to provide assistance to those who had been affected by terrorism. He also demanded use of the bio metric system in the by election.
