Rise of Houthis in Yemen is to destabilize Saudi Arabia: Pakistan Hindu Council

Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNALahore: Patron-in-chief Pakistan Hindu Council and Member National Assembly Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has urged the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to send Pak Army Troops to defend Saudi Arabia immediately, without any hesitation and further waste of time, adding that contribution of brave Pak Army could be game-changer in the current Middle East crises.

Briefing the media outside Parliament House during the Joint Parliamentary Sesion, prominent law-maker Dr. Ramesh Vankwani, on behalf of Hindu community living across the country, has emphasized that following the request of Saudi regime, presence of Pakistani troops within the geographic boundaries of friendly country Saudi Arabia for defence purposes would not be considered as the interference in the internal matters but the timely act would be beneficial to further strengthen the bilateral relations with the positive outcomes on long-term bases.

“The current foreign policy of Pakistan to not interfere in the internal matters of other countries is highly appreciated but in the current scenario, restoration of order in Yemen is most important for the promotion of talks and negotiations,” he said, while warning that developments in Yemen, where a minority tribe is trying to subdue majority and threatening neighbouring countries, would have very serious negative consequences for Muslim world as a whole.

“The Arabs regard Iranian expansion as an existential threat to them. They see Iran taking over four Arab capitals: Damascus, Baghdad, Sana’a, and, to a certain extent, Beirut as well.” Dr. Ramesh said, adding that the self-proclaimed Islamic State is another existential threat that undermines the entire Arab world.

While commenting on the formation of United Arab Force, he acknowledged that it is the first time since the Arab coalition in the 1967 war against Israel that Arab countries have decided to join forces in a concrete and strategic way.  “So far, there has been a lot of talk about Arab unity. The Arab League’s initiatives on March 29 to establish a joint military force could make this old dream a tangible reality,” he said.

Dr. Ramesh declared that the rise of the Houthis in Yemen is a move to destablise Saudi Arabia, while Saudi regime could be critised for a number of reasons by some segments of Pakistani society but their support for Pakistan has been remarkable.  While answering a question, he also rejected the possibility of any kind of backlash across Pakistan in response of sending troops there, showing his full confidence on Pak Army to control such unpleasant situation, if occurs.
