Chairman Cabinet Price Control monitors oil & ghee prices in the markets

Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee Bilal Yasin Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food & Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee Bilal Yasin has said that Punjab government has evolved an effective and coordinated monitoring system for maintaining the prices of edible items at fixed level along with substantial reduction in their prices. He said that under this system, duty magistrates visit Sunday bazaars and other trade centers of daily use commodities which have helped in stabilizing the prices.

He expressed these views while talking to consumers during his surprise visit to different trade centers of Lahore including Shadman market and Liberty market. The Minister said that government is aware of the problems of common man and a coordinated and an effective government system has been set up in this regard under which continuous relief is being provided to the people. During his visit to Shadman market, Bilal Yasin went to a famous business center Sawera store and checked the prices of edible items especially ghee and oil and warned store owner to display the prices outside the shop and at stock prominently.

Later, the Minister during his visit to Liberty market got arrested on the spot Baba Bashir fruit and vegetable seller, Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Akram at Jalal center on profiteering and a fine of Rs. 25000 each was also imposed. Fiaz, an employee of Zulfiqar fruit seller was arrested and a fine of Rs. 25000 was imposed on profiteering. The Minister issued a strict warning to area magistrate and directed to ensure sale of daily use items on the prices fixed by the government. He said that people should boycott profiteers and inform the government about such elements so that immediate action could be taken against them.
