Excessive load shedding is seriously hitting the masses: Liaqat Baloch

Liaqat baloch Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that excessive load shedding of electricity had seriously hit people in all walks of life and government’s tall promises on this score had proved a fraud.

In a statement here on Wednesday, he said if the government did not take prompt measures to overcome the energy crisis, it would have to face a massive public protest. He said that mismanagement in WAPDA was deliberate as the government desired privatization of the institution.

Liaqat Baloch slated the fresh raise in POL prices and termed it totally unjustified as the prices in the international market remained unchanged. He said the government should have readjusted the  taxes on POL products to stabilize the country’s economy. He demanded immediate withdrawal of the raise. He however welcomed fall in electricity tariff on the basis of fuel adjustment.

Meanwhile, the JI Secretary General had a meeting with the Jamaat al Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and Secretary General Majlid e Wahdat Muslimeen Allama Nasir Abbas, and  discussed with them the situation in Yemen and the best possible role for this country in the crisis. The three leaders agreed that Pakistan and Turkey should step forward and play a mediatory role between Saudi Arabia and Iran. They were of the view that the Muslim leadership should play a constructive role in order to pull the Ummah out f the current crises.

Jamaat al Dawa’s Maulana Ameer Hamza, and JI’s Dr Farid Ahmed Paracha, Mian Maqsood Ahmed were also present at the meeting.
