A six months diploma course in ‘Fish Farm Management’ starts

Director General Fisheries Dr. Muhammad AyubLahore: Director General Fisheries Dr. Muhammad Ayub, has said that a six months diploma course in ‘Fish Farm Management’ has been started first time in the history of Pakistan under Human Resource Development Programme and fish farmers from the whole country will benefit from this course.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the course at Fisheries Research and Training Institute Manawan, here today. Officers of Fisheries Department besides a large number of fish farmers coming from different areas of the country for participating in the course were present on the occasion. Dr. Muhammad Ayub said that there is no university or institution in Pakistan which conducts professional diploma in fish farming and Fisheries Department has the honour of launching this diploma course first time in the history of the country.

Director General Fisheries said that degree programmes in fisheries will also be included in future. He said that Fisheries Department Punjab is making strenuous efforts for the development of fisheries sector and endeavoring to increase protein production, considering it a public-service. He expressed determination that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Fisheries Department will spare no effort for the development and expansion of this sector. Dr. Imtiaz Begum Minhas, Director Fisheries (R&T) and Zahid Iqbal, Deputy Director Fisheries (Principal) also spoke on the occasion.
