N-League govt scrapped the Lahore-Sialkot motorway projects:Ch Parvez Elahi

Chaudhry Pervaiz ElahiLahore: Pakistan Muslim League -Q senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that our project to construct Lahore-Sialkot Motorway was scrapped seven years ago after Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif had assumed power in Punjab but now Nawaz Sharif has remembered Expressway.

He said this while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League Sialkot which included leaders and workers.

He said the construction of motorway was scheduled to be completed five years ago which would have reduced journey time between Lahore to Sialkot from two and half hours to only 45 minutes, for this our govt had taken all steps, even funds were provided for land requisition which was retrieved by younger brother Shahbaz Sharif.

Ch Parvez Elahi said further that on the motorway two industrial estates were to be established with the cooperation of China besides two Poly-technical universities were also be set up with the assistance of Germany and Sweden. He said when N-League govt had scrapped the motorway projects, these countries had shifted the universities to India.

Continuing Ch Parvez Elahi said that both the brothers were trying in vain to hide the facts by taking the credit for construction of Ring Road in Lahore because Lahore Ring Road project was started by his govt in the Punjab in consultation with US expert and with the help of satellite technology and its design was finalized keeping in view requirements of Lahore for next 30 years whereas Shahbaz Sharif had not added even one foot in it.

He said while scrapping mega projects of our tenure which included Lahore Rapid Mass Transit Train, Mubarak Centre, Lahore City Sports like grand projects Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif had not thought how much irreparable loss thus would be caused to the concerned areas, people and the country.
