Mustafa Kamal’s comments are very unfortunate:International Cricket Council

mustafa-kamal-the-new-president-of-the-iccLahore: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive David Richardson today issued the following statement following comments about the match officials in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 quarter-final between Bangladesh and India in Melbourne on Thursday.

“The ICC has noted Mr Mustafa Kamal’s comments, which are very unfortunate but made in his personal capacity. As an ICC President, he should have been more considerate in his criticism of ICC match officials, whose integrity cannot be questioned.

“The no-ball decision was a 50-50 call. The spirit of the game dictates that the umpire’s decision is final and must be respected.

“Any suggestion that the match officials had “an agenda” or did anything other than perform to the best of their ability are baseless and are refuted in the strongest possible terms.

“We now look forward to an exciting last few matches of what has been a very successful and interesting ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.”

It would be pertinent to mention here that ICC president Mustafa Kamal has strongly criticized the match officials after India,Bangladesh Quarter final with the remarks “ICC has become Indian Cricket Council”.

Bangladeshi fans alleged that the umpire’s controversial decisions proved to play a crucial role behind the defeat of their team in the quarter final match, which many had dubbed as David vs Goliath.

After the match Bangladesh Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, also ICC president said on Thursday the ICC was not International Cricket Council anymore. “It has become Indian Cricket Council.”

He said: “One can be part of the ICC but not the Indian Cricket Council.”

Bangladesh will appeal to ICC against the controversial umpiring in the World Cup quarterfinal in Melbourne.

The spirited men in green and red fell prey to umpiring injustice during the biggest game of Bangladesh cricket history.

India sailed through to the World Cup semi-finals with an emphatic 109-run win over Bangladesh in a match that witnessed controversial decisions by the umpires.

The Tigers managed to score 193, chasing 302 runs losing all wickets in 45 overs.
