Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting with regard to law and order late at night, here today, in which Provincial Home Minister Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada, MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, MPA Rana Sanaullah, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police and concerned officials participated.
Addressing the meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that all necessary steps should be taken for the protection of life and property of the people of the province. He said that the supremacy of law should be ensured at every cost and indiscriminate action be taken against mischievous elements under the law. The Chief Minister said that no one can be allowed to take law into his hand. During the meeting, a preliminary report regarding blasts was presented to the Chief Minister and informed about the progress made so far.
The Chief Minister directed police to further tighten the security of churches and foolproof arrangements should be made in this regard. He said that senior police officers should personally supervise security arrangements at these places. He said that the rights and worship places of Christians will be protected at any cost. Shahbaz Sharif directed that effective measures be taken for preventing such tragic incidents in future and a report be presented to him after conducting security audit of all places of worship.
The Chief Minister further directed that the elements which burnt to death two persons yesterday be arrested and legal action be taken against them without any delay. He said that Punjab government will hold a thorough investigation into the incident and stern legal action will be taken against the guilty persons. T
