Punjab National Sports Festival will commence at various grounds of the city

Lahore: Punjab National Sports Festival will commence at various grounds of the city here on Thursday. It’s worth mentioning that the grand sporting activity is being held in connection with National Horse and Cattle Show and with the collaboration of Sports Board Punjab (SBP).

The hundreds of athletes from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad and Azad Kashmir will take part in athletics, tug-of-war, kabaddi, cricket, hockey, football and wrestling competitions during the 4-day mega event.

According to revised schedule, Pakistan Greens and Pakistan White teams will clash in the tug-of-war contest at Punjab Stadium at 3.00pm on the opening day. Punjab and Fata cricket teams will kick off cricket tournament at 12.00pm at LCCA ground while the second match will be played between Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan at New Ittefaq Ground. Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will clash in the third encounter at Ittefaq LCCA ground.

Punjab Stadium will host three football matches on the first day. The opening match will be contested between Punjab and Fata teams at 11.30am. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan will face off at 2.00pm while the last match will be played between Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa4.30pm at the same venue.

The event of women hockey will commence with a match between Punjab and Fata at National Hockey Stadium at 9.00am. The female teams from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan will play the second match at 10.30am while the third match will be competed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 12.00pm.

The men’s hockey event will start after the women matches at the same venue. The first match will be played between Punjab and Fata and its starting time will 1.30pm. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan will launch their campaign at 3.00pm while the third and last match will be played by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 4.30pm. The wrestling competitions will begin at 5.00pm.
