National Horse and Cattle Show will kick off the Punjab National Sports Festival from March 5

DG Sports Board Punjab Usman AnwarLahore: National Horse and Cattle Show will kick off the Punjab National Sports Festival from March 5, informed director general sports Punjab Usman Anwar here on Tuesday.

He said that different sports competitions will be conducted in the festival and will be participated by various teams from all over the country. “The events will be stepping stone in the progress of sport in the province and the country alike,” he believed.

Usman said that sports event during horse and cattle show will promote healthy activity and it is a golden opportunity for the players of all the four provinces, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad to express their skill to the fullest.

“Hundreds of players will feature in the Punjab Sports Festival being held from March 5 on the sidelines of Horse and Cattle Show,” he maintained.

“Nishtar Park Sports Complex will be the venue of all the sporting activities of the festival,” said Usman.

As par the sports schedule, tug of war competitions between Pakistan Greens and Whites will be held on March 5 at 3.00 pm at the Punjab Stadium. “The teams will comprise players from Army, Ari Force, Police, Wapda, Punjab and Railways,” informed the DG.

On March 7, Chief Minister XI will take on Chief Secretary XI in a cricket match at the Gaddafi Stadium. The match will start at 2.30 pm. OnMarch 7, Pakistan Greens and Whites kabaddi match will be played between the female players at 3.30 pm at the Punjab Stadium. Similarly, the players will be from Army, Ari Force, Police, Wapda, Punjab and Railways. It will be followed by men’s kabaddi match at 4.30 pm.

Usman further informed that male athletics competitions will be held on March 6 and 7 at the Punjab Stadium at 9 am while female competitions will be held at 2.00 pm at the same venue. “Cricekt matches between the teams of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad will be held from March 5 and the final will be played on March 8 at the Gaddafi Stadium.

“Football matches will be played from Mach 5 to 8 and the final will be held at the Punjab stadium while hockey matches will also be held during the same dates at the National Hockey Stadium and wrestling will also be held during the same period,” he maintained.
