Punjab Zakat and Usher Department launched its website to provide guidance to Mustahqeen

Minister Zakat Malik Nadeem KamranLahore: Punjab Zakat and Usher Department has launched its website to provide information and guidance to Mustahqeen. Besides rules and regulations of the department and application forms, data about 24 thousand local Zakat committees has also been uploaded on the website. Moreover, information about eligibility for scholarship, subsistence allowance, blind fund, marriage grant and other financial assistance as well as application forms can also be downloaded and Mustahqeen will not have to visit the offices.

This was stated by Provincial Minister for Zakat & Usher, Malik Nadeem Kamran at the launching ceremony of the website at the office of Administrator Zakat and training workshop for the officers, here today. Secretary Zakat & Usher Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Muhammad Yousaf Butt and Zakat Officers from the whole province were present on the occasion.

Malik Nadeem Kamran said that the department has initiated a scheme for the permanent rehabilitation of Mustahqeen and as a pilot project in five districts, those receiving training form vocational training institutes, will be given a sum of four crore rupees so that they can start their own business. He said that complete record of all Mustahqeen receiving financial assistance under various heads of Zakat has been computerized to eliminate fake Mustahqeen and irregularities. He said that besides holding various events across the province, print and electronic media campaigns will be launched while brochures and leaflets will also be distributed for promoting public awareness regarding Zakat.

He said that social media is also being used and Facebook of the department has also been launched. He said that after the success of the project of provision of funds to Mustahqeen through Easypaisa in three districts, the scope of this scheme is being extended to 18 districts.

The Minister also urged the officers receiving training to perform their responsibilities efficiently to serve and facilitate Mustahqeen as it is also a religious obligation. He also asked them to hold meetings with chamber of commerce in their respective districts and philanthropists to motivate them to deposit their donations and Zakat in the Zakat Department.
