Abdul Waheed Arain announces to challenge Election Tribunal decision in Supreme Court

Abdul Waheed ArainLahore: Minister Jails Punjab Abdul Waheed Arain has announced to challenge Election Tribunal Multan decision in Supreme Court.The Election Tribunal has declared him disqualified by accepting his opponent Rana Abdul Jabbar petition that he does not remain honest and true person under the article 62,63 of the constitution for having two CNIC during the elections.

PTI candidate Rana Abdul Jabbar after being defeated in the general elections 2013,had filed a petition in Election Tribunal that Abdul Waheed Arain won the elections by using unfair means and alleged that he possessed two ID cards that he had not declared so he had not remained honest and true person so he should be disqualified and his winning should be announced as a runner-up.Moreover Anti Corruption had registered a case against him for misusing and embezzlement of official funds.

Abdul Waheed Arain submitted his reply and said that though he was issued overseas Pakistani ID card by NADRA but he cancelled the card after an objection was filed against him despite the fact that he has the right to keep both cards.

The court ordered the election commission to conduct by-elections in PP-196.

Abdul Waheed Chaudhry son of Ch Abdul Haq was born on January 1, 1965 at Multan. After graduating in honours, he obtained the degree of M.A. (Islamic Studies and Arabic). A businessman, who has been elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in general elections 2013. He has visited KSA, UAE, UK and Iran.
