Engineering Cell wins GCU Staff cricket tournament

Sports Pic (1) Lahore: The Engineering Cell of the Government College University, Lahore has won the second GCU Staff Inter-departmental Cricket Tournament 2015 defeating the team of Director Facilities in the final by four wickets. As many as 14 teams took part in the tournament.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was the Chief Guest at the final match, while Registrar Dr Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Campus Engineer Lt Col (r) Bilal Ahmed and Director Facilities Yousaf Bashir were also present.

Saqib Hussian of Engineering Cell was declared the Best Blower of the tournament, while Shahid from the team of security guards lifted the trophy of overall best batsman.

Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman said that sports ended discrimination among staff and united them as team which ultimately enhanced their performance and dedication. He pledged that they would continue to organise such healthy recreational actiSports Picvities for staff members, so that they do their work with more commitment and dedication. He applauded the efforts of secretary organising committee, Atif Aslam, and other members of organising team for successfully holding the tournament in which staff members from the rank of Treasurer to Junior Clerk and Naib Qasid participated. He said all staff members were equal and were like family members to each other.

The Vice Chancellor also expressed best wishes for the victory of Pakistan team in the world cup.
