Labour colonies would be constructed in the whole province:Raja Ashfaq Sarwar

Minister Labour Raja Ashfaq SarwarLahore: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB) would construct labour colonies in the whole province comprising state-of-the-art facilities for the industrial workers and labourers worth billion of rupees.

He stated this while presiding over a review meeting regarding various ongoing development projects of PWWB, here today.

Secretary Labour Ishrat Ali, Secretary PWWB Muhammad Saleem Hussain, Director Works Muhammad Mazhar, concerned officers of Labour Department and DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar attended the meeting. Briefing the meeting, Secretary PWWB Saleem Hussain said that worth billion of rupees projects to construct labour welfare complexes, WWB schools, multi-purpose community centers and mosques in Multan, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Okara and Gujranwala districts are under process where filtration plants and drainage system would also be provided to facilitate the industrial workers and their families.

He further told that a project of 992 flats comprising Rs.3017 million for construction of labour colony Multan would be completed in next two years along with a project of labour welfare complex Sundar Kasur with the total cost of Rs.7781 million would be started from next month. Saleem Hussain told that a labour colony project in Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park in Sheikhupura is also under consideration. DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar informed the Minister regarding progress in construction of 576 flats at 142 kanals area in Taxila labour colony Rawalpindi in phase one.

The Minister informed the meeting that the project of construction of 208 flats with the cost of Rs.926 million in Warburton district Nankana would also be completed this year. He further told that for the construction of workers labour complexes at Okara, Kasur and Gujranwala, land are being acquired and funds would be asked from Federal Workers Welfare Board to complete these projects.

Raja Ashfaq  Sarwar directed the concerned officers to remove all bottlenecks for earliest completion of these labour welfare oriented projects.
