Lahore: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javaid has paid a surprise visit to Shadman Sunday Bazaar to check the prices and quality of edible items.
The Minister expressed extreme displeasure over detection of an out of order metal detector at the entry point of Sunday bazaar and poor security arrangements and directed that show-cause notices be issued to market committee and town administration. He said that those held responsible for poor security arrangements will be removed from service.
Earlier, the Minister checked prices and quality of food items at different stalls set up Shadman Sunday bazaar. He also inquired from the consumers about the supply and quality of vegetables in the Sunday bazaar who thanked the government for its efforts resulting in substantial decrease in the prices of food items.
The Minister said that the government is providing relief to the citizens by minimizing the difference between the retail and wholesale prices of fruits and vegetables. He said that prices of vegetables have decreased and efforts are being made for the reduction. He directed the price control magistrates should ensure provision of essential items to the citizens at the fixed rates.
