Power sector is responsible for ongoing petrol crisis: APCNGA

Lahore: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Thursday said power sector is responsible for ongoing petrol crisis which has effected millions of people. After scarcity of gas, petrol is unavailable of majority of the outlets across the country creating life difficult for consumers and transporters, said Central Chairman of APCNGA Captain (Retd) Shuja Anwar.Petrol shortage

In a statement issued here today, he said that the circular debt of the power sector has engulfed whole country and masses are paying price for the inefficiency of authorities concerned.

Captain Shuja said that masses could be provided some relief if CNG stations are reopened in Punjab which were closed few months back to provide gas to other sectors. He added that CNG stations were closed by the government therefore the operators of these units should be given relief by waiving fixed charges on gas and electricity bills. He said that PSO holds seventy percent of the market share but it can hardly fulfil 20 to 25 per cent demand which has resulted in closure of majority of the filling station and long lines on those operating.

It is amazing that the concerned officials are not giving any explanation for the current crisis, he said, adding that crisis should be resolved immediately.
