We will have to make education our top priority for progress: Chairman PEF

Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam RajaLahore: Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja has said that acquiring knowledge will have to be made top priority for achieving progress as developed nations have made tremendous progress due to education. He quoted example of South Korea in this regard which copied second five year plan of Pakistan and is now one of the developed countries in the world.

He expressed these views while addressing the launching ceremony of “Education Sector Procurements in Punjab: a Horizontal Accountability Perspective” under the aegis of Institute of Social and Policies Sciences and Ilm Ideas at a local hotel. He lamented that people take interest in the education of their own children but do not think of children of other people. He said that we will have to make education our top priority.

Qamar ul Islam Raja said that Punjab government has taken important and result-oriented steps in this regard due to which considerable improvement has been made in education sector. He said that the departmental tenders are uploaded on the website of Punjab Procurement and Regularity Authority for ensuring transparency.  He said that this is an important step of the department towards transparency.

Qamar ul Islam Raja who is also Chairman Standing Committee for Education in Punjab Assembly further said that after 18th amendment and transfer of education sector to the provinces, Punjab Curriculum and Text Books Authority has been established in the province. Other participants also spoke on the occasion.
