police to ensure security of Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions :Shuja Khanzada

Minister Interior Shuja KhanzadaLahore: Provincial Minister for Home Col.(Retd) Shuja Khanzada has directed police to ensure security of Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions on the pattern of Muharram-ul-Haram processions. He said that 41460 police officers and officials have been deputed for the security of the participants of these processions. He stressed the need for continuing the operation against the vehicles with black glasses. The Minister said that Home Department did not given permission to anyone to paint the glasses of the vehicles black. However, if such permission had been given in the past, it should be considered as cancelled, he added.

He said this while presiding over a special meeting regarding security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions at Committee Room of Civil Secretariat here today. Special Assistant to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Rana Sanaullah Khan MPA, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Home Maj.(R) Azam Suleman, Inspector General of Police, Intelligence Bureau, Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains, Director General Auqaf, senior officers of Special Branch and other concerned departments were present on the occasion.

Shuja Khanzada said that district peace committees should be activated for maintaining peace on Eid Milad-un-Nabi and separate meetings be held with ulema of Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen. He directed that audio and video coverage of Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions should be ensured. The meeting decided that police officers and officials will remain present in front and rear of the processions and side roads will be closed. The Minister directed to check small processions at Thana level.

Shuja Khanzada said that a watchful eye should be kept on Schedule-IV persons and if needed, they should be put under house arrest. The Minister directed officers of Intelligence Bureau, Special Branch, Anti-Terrorism and other agencies to utilize all their energies to monitor sensitive places.
