Benazir Bhutto was amongst the most important national leaders:Liaqat Baloch

Benazir-BhuttoLahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that Benazir Bhutto  was not only a former Prime Minister and the Chairperson of the PPP, she was amongst the most important national leaders.

In a statement here on the death anniversary of the PPP leader, Liaqat Baloch said that the tragic assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had been mourned not only in Pakistan but the whole world.

However, he said, it was also a national tragedy that the while a national leader was removed from the scene under a well thought plan, neither the assassins nor the facilitators were brought to light.

He said this was gross injustice to the entire Pakistani nation that during the entire period of Gen. (rtd) Pervez Musharraf, Asif Ali Zardari and even during the rule of Mian Nawaz Sharif, the enquiry reports of the assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had not been made public.

Liaqat Baloch said that only three days before her assassination, an APDM delegation had an important meeting with her at the Zardari House, Islamabad. The delegation also included Mian Nawaz Sharif, Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Javed Hashmi and others. At this meeting, he said, the slain Prime Minister had offered brilliant arguments to the former JI chief Qazi Husain Ahmed and PTI chairman Imran Khan for not boycotting the general elections. He said that as JI Parliamentary leader in the National Assembly twice, he had found that late Benazir Bhutto had emerged as a seasoned politician, after her exile and as Leader of the Opposition.

The JI leader said that the PPP at present was facing a crisis primarily because it was without a leader of Benazir Bhutto status. He expressed deep condolences to the leadership and the workers of the PPP on the occasion of her death anniversary.
