Peace in the country is the basic requirement for wiping out terrorism: Liaqat Baloch

Liaqat BalochLahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that peace in the country  was the basic requirement for wiping out terrorism and extremism as also for national development and stability.

Addressing JI workers in the city on Friday, he said that the present lawlessness in the motherland was the result of the absence of the rule of the constitution and law, and disregard to the people’s sentiments.

Liaqat Baloch said that terrorism was not being caused by bomb blasts and suicide attacks alone.  Rampant corruption, price spiral, large scale unemployment, socio-economic disparities were also generating crimes and terrorism. He said the self-centered policies and the luxurious living of the rulers during the last 68 years had resulted in the present situation, and it was time that the parliament, the civil and military leadership  besides political and religious parties agreed at national priorities to steer the country out of the present mire.

The JI Secretary General said that the central council of the Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) would meet in Islamabad on January 7 to take important decisions relating to the enforcement of the MYC code of conduct, the problems of terrorism and sectarian, the security of the religious Madrissahs and their reformation. It would also decide the schedule for the national conference of the religious parties.

Meanwhile, Liaqat Baloch on Friday met the Secretary general of the Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat, Dr Khadim Hussain Dhillon, and exchanged views with him regarding the national unity and harmony and the evils of terrorism and sectarianism.
