Christian community expressed solidarity with victims of Peshawar tragedy

Lahore: The Punjab University’s Christian community expressed solidarity with victims of Peshawar tragedy by organizing Christmas celebration in a very simple manner with no cake-cutting ceremony.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dean Faculty of Law Prof Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi, Registrar Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Director IER Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhter, Christian community’s leaders Liaqat M Qaiser, Paster Prof Dr Danyal Khokhar, PU sanitory supervisor Ch Mushtaq Masih, a large number of Christian employees and their families were present on the occasion.

The participants lighted up candles in the memory of martyrs of Army Public School and prayed for the departed souls, bereaved families and prosperity of the country.PU

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the Peshawar tragedy was the worst example of barbarism and Islam does not allow attack on children, women and old people. He said that we must raise voice against evil with unity following the teachings of Prophets sent by Allah. He said that we must not forget all those people who fell prey to terrorist attacks in Pakistan.PUPU

Danyal Khokhar said that we all were united against terrorists as the children martyred were not of the Muslims’ but of all of us. He said that terrorists had no religion. He said that the attack was not only on the innocent children but on the future of Pakistan.

Chaudhry Musthaq Masih said that the Christian community was with the Muslims against terrorists and condemned the incident. He said that we all were Pakistanis and we prayed for the development and peace of our beloved country. Later, one minute silence was observed for Peshawar tragedy victims.
