Pakistan women Kabaddi team wins bronze medal in Kabaddi World Cup

Lahore: Pakistan women Kabaddi team won bronze medal by defeating Denmark in a nail biting match by 38-28 points of Kabaddi World Cup.

Skipper Madiha Lateef led from the front and won several points through her powerful raids. Nida, Sehrish and Saira Shah also supported their skipper quite effectively in their last match of the grand event.

Later talking to media, captain Madiha Lateef said that overall Pakistan women team displayed good game in the mega event. “There are a couple of factors that played role if our team could not make a place in the final. Our team have to play all of their league matches on successive days and this continuity left negative effect on the performance of our girls,” she explained.

“The tournament management should have given our team sufficient break between our matches. Had this been done, the standing of our team could have been different in the event”. Madiha said that her team could have won the third match against New Zealand but the workload of three consecutive matches left them tired and consequently our team could not top their pool.

Replying a query, Madiha told that the game of kabaddi has got great popularity in India and this factor reflected in their women team’s performance. “We will try our best to remove the flaws in our game and technique and insha-Allah our team will present a satisfactory performance in the next World Cup event,” she expressed her hope.
