Security to be beefed up for educational institutions in the province: Naveed Akram Cheema

Police alertLahore: Chief Secretary Punjab, Naveed Akram Cheema has directed that in view of Peshawar tragedy, security and rules and regulations laid down for other matters be ensured in educational institutions of the province and police officials and Education Department should review necessary affairs without any delay.

The Chief Secretary in a special high level meeting with Secretary Schools, Secretary Higher Education and Police officials directed to ensure security of girl and boy students in public and private schools and added that existing laws should be kept in view in this regards.

He said that heads of schools and colleges should discharge their responsibilities for implementing these laws and police authorities should extend every possible help and cooperation to them. He directed that besides educational institutions, police and secret agencies should perform their duties more efficiently at public and private buildings and public places and all resources should be utilized for tightening security.

Naveed Akram Cheema said that Punjab government has expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over Peshawar tragedy and announced three days’ mourning during which the national flag will fly at half mast at Civil Secretariat and all other government buildings. He said that every citizen of Punjab equally share the grief of bereaved families of Peshawar.
